It is home of Alabama, the Grammy Award-winning country music and southern rock band that originated in Fort Payne, Alabama, United States in the late '60s by Randy Owen (lead vocals) and his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass guitar, background vocals) and later joined by Jeff Cook (guitar, fiddle, keyboards) and Mark Herndon (drums). This museum houses the group Alabama's many awards and achievements, collections from their youth and a souvenir and gift shop.

Fort Payne Depot Museum

This beautiful 1891 pink sandstone depot, of Richardson Romanesque architectural design, was operated by the Alabama Great Southern Railroad and served as a train station until 1970. It now houses railroad memorabilia, Dioramas handcrafted in 1913, Indian artifacts, local history and more! Hours of operation: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10am - 4pm, and Sunday 2pm - 4pm.


Little River Canyon National Preserve

Tucked away in the northeast corner of Alabama near the Georgia border is Little River Canyon, an isolated oasis carved into a mountain. Enjoy beautiful vistas and waterfalls from the overlooks along the 11 mile scenic drive. This road runs along the canyon's rim, for spectacular views into the 700 foot deep gorge. If you’re a hiker, you’ll find numerous trails from which to enjoy the beauty of this preserve. Bring lots of film, as you’ll want to capture the beauty of this area forever. Visit Little River Falls off Highway 35 in Ft. Payne, Alabama. Little River Canyon is perfect for whitewater kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing and rappelling. You can bring your own equipment or contact an outfitter. Horseback riding is allowed in the preserve in designated locations with your own horse.
